Location (view location)
The 2.0 MWel/12.75 MWth biomass co-generation plant (CHP) is located in the vicinity of the former owners Fuchsluger GmbH with whom Cycleenergy has agreed long-term raw material supply contracts. The plant delivers up to 10.000 MWh of heat into the newly built heat grid of Biowärme Amstetten West GmbH (BAW) which supplies heat to four towns in the region. Additionally the plant in Aschbach provides 19 local households with heat via a neighbourhood heat grid. The remaining heat is used to dry corn, flower, soil, etc.

Concept
Located between our existing plants in Allentsteig, Gresten and Waidhofen/Ybbs, the Aschbach plant is an excellent example of an optimized CHP power plant. In addition to receiving the highest possible state-guaranteed feed-in tariffs of EUR 160/MWh, it generates additional returns through utilisation of heat for two heat grids with a capacity of more than 10 GWh annually and for drying of seasonal goods from local partners.

The 2.0 MWel/12.75 MWth biomass co-generation plant consumes approx. 20,000 tons of wood waste which are secured through long-term supply contracts with former owners Fuchsluger GmbH. Fuchsluger GmbH is a family-business specialised in logistics and wood disposal and the new relationship generates optimum trade-off for both companies.

The CHP plant has an additional annual heat production capacity of 60,000 MWh. Heat can be provided as hot water (forward temperature 90°C, return temperature 60°C) or as saturated steam at 1.6 bar (absolute pressure). Additionally, significant amounts of low temperature heat from vacuum condensing can be provided for pre-heating of drying air to a temperature of approx. 30°C. Backup and peak capacity can be provided by a two biomass boiler strategy.
