Location (view location)
The 0.75 MWel/12.0 MWth biomass co-generation plant (CHP) is located in Waidhofen/Y., about 15km from raw material supplier Fuchsluger GmbH with whom Cycleenergy has agreed on long-term raw material contracts. The plant delivers around 20 GWh of heat into a long distance heat grid operated by regional utility EVN.

Concept
Situated in the vicinity of Cycleenergy’s plants in Aschbach and Gresten, the plant generates more than 4,400 MWh of electricity at the highest possible feed-in tariff of EUR 160/MWh. There is the opportunity for further capacity expansion of 0.75 MWel based on existing permits. The heat is being delivered to a long distance heat-grid operated by regional utility EVN, based on an agreed long-term heat contract of 20 years. Former owners Fuchsluger GmbH, which are also active in the market for wood disposal and logistics, and Cycleenergy has agreed on long term raw material supply contracts for both biomass power plants generating an synergistic trade-off between these two specialist companies. In total the plant in Waidhofen/Y. consumes approximately 10,000 tons of wood waste. Raw material contracts ensure enough supply for a potential capacity extension. The CHP plant has an additional annual heat production capacity of 40,000 MWh. Heat can be provided as hot water (forward temperature 90°C, return temperature 60 °C) or as saturated steam at 1.6 bar (absolute pressure). Backup and peak capacity can be provided from a gas CHP plant.
